Our friend Ryan came over last night to catch up and have dinner. We have this history – he loves s’mores flavored desserts and I love to make them. No wonder we get along so well!
I found this easy no bake recipe that seemed like a perfect fit for our dessert last night. I whipped them up in the afternoon while Clare napped, stuck them in the fridge, and they were ready to go for the evening! They were a hit and are super delicious. The guys said that the texture and flavor reminded them of a s’mores combination of puppy chow and Rice Krispie treats.
Make a batch of these and you’re sure to please your s’mores loving friends!
Super Simple S’mores Bars
1 bag (11-12 ounces) chocolate chips, semi-sweet or milk
1 Tbsp shortening
2 cups mini marshmallows
2 cups Golden Grahams cereal
Yield: 16 pieces
Line an 8×8” pan with foil and spray with cooking spray. (This is for easy removal from the pan.)
Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a large microwave safe bowl. Heat in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. (About 1-2 minutes)
Stir in the Golden Grahams and marshmallows. Pour into the prepared pan and press to compact. Add some extra Golden Grahams and marshmallows to the top if wanted. Chill in the refrigerator until set. When ready to serve, use the foil to remove the bars and cut into squares. Store extras in an airtight container for up to a week.
